Product Description
Firstly, our Olsen-Hegar needle holder is a versatile surgical instrument that combines two essential functions in one. Its serrated jaws securely grasp surgical needles, preventing slippage and ensuring precise control during suturing. What sets it apart is the integrated scissor mechanism at the tip of the instrument, which allows surgeons to cut suture material with ease, eliminating the need for a separate pair of scissors.
For added control during surgery, many Olsen-Hegar needle holders feature a ratchet mechanism. This locking system maintains a firm grip on the needle or suture material, reducing hand fatigue during lengthy procedures. The instrument’s handle is ergonomically designed to provide a comfortable and secure grip.
Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, the Olsen-Hegar needle holder is not only durable but also resistant to corrosion, ensuring its longevity and suitability for sterilisation using autoclaving methods. This feature is crucial for maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
Available in various lengths and sizes, surgeons can select the most appropriate Olsen-Hegar needle holder based on the specific procedure and their personal preferences. Furthermore, its versatility extends to its use in a wide range of surgical specialities, from general surgery to orthopaedics, gynaecology, and more.
Quality assurance is paramount for this instrument, with many high-quality Olsen-Hegar needle holders undergoing rigorous quality control processes to guarantee precision and reliability in the demanding environment of the operating room.

Our Philosophy
Firstly, our philosophy is to challenge everything we do, be accountable for what we manufacture and continually improve. Furthermore, we supply stainless steel instruments that are manufactured in accordance with BS 5194. This ensures each instrument has the right composition, enabling it to serve its intended purpose effectively.
Finally, we select the highest grade steels, for the best long term value for our customers. As part of our ISO 9001 quality system, we ensure we have access to material mill certificates and also as part of our proactive objective quality assessment, we send off routine batches of material for 3rd Party testing and verification. This ensures our customers receive the instrument they ordered, manufactured from the correct steel, as per BS 5194.
