McPhail Needle Holder

Our McPhail Needle Holder Surgeons commonly use it in surgical procedures to securely hold and suture needles. This is available with one jaws that are Tungsten Carbide for extra needle grip and the other is stainless steel. Squeezing the handles together activates the catch, and applying additional pressure releases it.

The choice between tungsten carbide and stainless steel depends on the specific requirements of the surgical procedure and the surgeon’s preference. Our Tungsten Carbide version enhances durability and sharpness, while surgical settings widely use the serrated stainless steel option for its reliability.

  • Needle Holding – Needle holders securely hold surgical needles during suturing.
  • Suturing Precision – They facilitate precise suturing of tissues and incisions.
  • Fatigue Reduction – Needle holders reduce hand fatigue during extended surgeries.
  • Atraumatic Handling: Designed to minimise trauma to tissues and prevent accidental punctures.
  • Controlled Needle Release – Ensure controlled release of the needle for safe suturing.
  • Versatile Usage – Used across various surgical specialties, offering adaptability.

Product Description

Firstly, our McPhails Needle Holder are instrumental in surgery by firmly gripping and stabilising surgical needles. This allows surgeons to maintain control over the needle’s position and orientation during suturing. It prevents the needle from slipping or becoming difficult to handle, which is especially critical when dealing with delicate tissues.

Furthermore, the precise control offered by these needle holders is essential for achieving accurate and neat sutures. Surgeons need to align tissues correctly and create secure closures. McPhail Needle Holders enable them to make well-placed stitches, contributing to the overall success of the surgery.

Moreover, surgical procedures can be lengthy and physically demanding. So our McPhail Needle Holders are designed to provide a mechanical advantage, which reduces the amount of force required by the surgeon’s hand. This reduces hand fatigue during extended surgeries, allowing for more precise and controlled movements.

The design of needle holders includes serrated jaws or fine tips that minimise tissue trauma. They grip the needle and suture material without causing unnecessary damage to the surrounding tissues, reducing the risk of complications and infections.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to challenge everything we do, be accountable for what we manufacture and continually improve.  We supply stainless steel instruments that are manufactured in accordance with BS 5194. This ensures every instrument has the correct composition, to ensure they can be fit for purpose and perform the action they were designed for.

We select the highest grade steels, for the best long term value for our customers. As part of our ISO 9001 quality system, we ensure we have access to material mill certificates and as part of our proactive objective quality assessment, we send off routine batches of material for 3rd Party testing and verification. This ensures our customers receive the instrument they ordered, manufactured from the correct steel, as per BS 5194.
