Surgeons use the Kilner Needle Holder with delicate suturing needles to close wounds, and it finds more frequent use in plastic surgery procedures. Like similar instruments, it has a serrated tip for gripping. Unlike the Crile or the Mayo, this product is “S” curved for specific procedures.
Firstly, these instruments possess serrated, ratcheted jaws that securely grip surgical needles, preventing slippage during suturing.
Secondly, Kilner Needle Holders feature scissor-like handles, facilitating easy one-handed manipulation and reducing hand fatigue during surgical procedures.
These models include a locking mechanism that the user can engage to keep the jaws closed when not in use, ensuring a constant grip on the needle.
Kilner Needle Holders typically consist of high-quality materials like stainless steel, ensuring durability and resistance to corrosion.
They are available in various lengths to suit specific surgical needs. Shorter ones are used for precise work, while longer ones are suitable for general surgical applications.
Some advanced models may feature tungsten carbide inserts at the tip of the jaws, enhancing their ability to grip surgical needles securely.
The design of these needle holders enables them to be autoclavable, enabling users to sterilise and reuse them, which contributes to a sterile surgical environment and minimises medical waste.

Our philosophy is to challenge everything we do, be accountable for what we manufacture and also continually improve. Ensuring that every instrument has the correct composition guarantees their suitability for the intended purpose and enables them to perform their designated actions effectively.
We select the highest grade steels, for the best long term value for our customers. As part of our ISO 9001 quality system, we ensure we have access to material mill certificates and also part of our proactive objective quality assessment, we send off routine batches of material for 3rd Party testing as well as verification. Furthermore, this ensures our customers receive the instrument they ordered, manufactured from the correct steel, as per BS 5194.
